This is more than a teaching role. Members of this team will:
• Generate knowledge, shape leadership thinking, and have direct impact on
organisational practice, combining scholarship, practical insight, and intellectual
influence.
• Shape executive learning experiences to go way beyond the classroom or
traditional executive education that truly transform leaders and delivers results
• Work with a team of colleagues from the IMI Academy, co-creating programmes
with partners and major clients to build individual, enterprise and systemic
leadership capabilities
• Contribute to knowledge creation in leadership based on first-hand front-line
experience, while influencing practice across diverse sectors
• Operate in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial learning environment, where
intellectual and practical impact are valued equally
• Partner with Associate Faculty & Subject Matter Experts to shape, teach and
facilitate programmes while engaging with broader communities of practice
About you:
Ideally a doctorate-level scholar-practitioner with real-world leadership experience, skilled in
educating, coaching, and mentoring senior executives. A specialist in leadership who
designs rigorous, experiential curricula and produces influential thought leadership.
Impact-focused, collaborative, and adept at translating theory into actionable insight while
engaging organisations and inspiring learners and peers.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Academic Practitioner, your responsibilities will include:
Educational Leadership & Scholarship
• Design and deliver executive learning experiences, translating complex leadership
theory into practical insights.
• Teach and facilitate using advanced adult learning, experiential methods, emerging
technology, and coaching techniques.
• Assess learning outcomes and provide rigorous feedback, including grading NFQ
Level 9 participant work.
• Develop innovative curricula, cases, simulations, and materials aligned to IMI’s
Leadership Framework.
• Coach and mentor participants to support reflection, growth, and applied leadership
practice.
• Mentor peers in teaching, learning design, assessment, and communities of practice.
Intellectual Contribution & Thought Leadership
• Generate leadership insights through field research, thought-leadership publications,
and intellectual contribution.
• Engage in media, webinars, and public forums to shape thinking beyond the
classroom.
• Translate research and practical experience into actionable guidance for
organisations.
• Ideally contribute published work in journals, professional publications, or prestigious
media.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement
• Work with clients to analyse organisational challenges and co-create bespoke
learning solutions
• Apply deep expertise to help clients translate learning into measurable organisational
outcomes.
• Design and develop impact measures for IMI and for clients engaging with diverse
learning experiences
• Act as Programme Director on selected programmes for IMI
• Debrief programme experiences with clients and participants to enhance future
engagements
Organisational Impact & Strategy
• Advise on portfolio strategy, identifying gaps, emerging needs, and opportunities to
shape the organisation’s leadership offering
• Lead and manage the approval, monitoring and review processes for various
programmes
• Actively implement and participate in IMI’s quality assurance system
• Collaborate closely with the senior team to innovate programmes that influence
organisational culture and performance

Work Location and Virtual Work
This role is based at IMI’s headquarters in Dublin. IMI recognises the importance of flexible
work arrangements and promotes a hybrid work model that combines in-person and virtual
work. Employees have the flexibility to work remotely for a part of their working hours,
subject to operational requirements and the agreement of their line manager as outlined in
the Work Life Balance Policy. Travel within Ireland and, occasionally, internationally may be
required to attend meetings, conferences, and client engagements.
Qualifications and Experience
• Ideally Doctorate (PhD / DBA) in Leadership, Organisational Behaviour,
Management, Strategy, Innovation, etc. or a closely related field (or close to
completion of same)
• Ideally proven executive leadership experience in business, consulting, or
organisational development
• Track record in teaching and facilitating senior executives
• A subject matter specialist in leadership and/or its sub-fields
• Experience designing and structuring executive programmes or leadership
curricula, including the establishment of NFQ level intended learning outcomes with
constructively aligned assessment
• Demonstrated ability to assess learning outcomes and provide actionable,
executive-level feedback
• Ideally have published thought leadership, e.g.: articles in journals, professional
publications, or prestigious media
• Practical experience translating theory into organisational impact, with measurable
results
• Coaching or mentoring experience for senior leaders or peers in professional
settings
• Proven ability to contribute to organisational strategy and portfolio development
• Comfortable in fast-moving, entrepreneurial environments, balancing multiple
priorities
• Excellent communication and influencing skills for clients, peers, and public
audiences
