We are seeking 2 dynamic and results-driven Business Development Directors to drive growth for the executive education programs at Mays Business School.
We’re driving growth in the Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth markets. Both roles involve identifying new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships with corporations and promoting our customized educational services to C-suite executives and decision-makers. The ideal candidate may have established business connections, an understanding of the executive education and professional learning & development sectors and a proven track record of achieving sales targets.
A Glimpse of the Job
Business Development & Sales Execution
- Prospecting and Lead Generation: Identify and target potential corporate clients and academic institutions through research, networking, and outreach.
- Sales Strategy and Execution: Develop and implement business development plans to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Proposal Development and Negotiation: Create tailored proposals, negotiate terms, and close deals to secure new partnerships.
Relationship & Account Management
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with C‑suite leaders, deans, and program managers to understand their learning needs.
- Networking and Events: Represent the organization at conferences and industry events to strengthen brand presence and expand networks.
Market & Competitive Intelligence
- Market Intelligence: Conduct ongoing research on industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging opportunities in executive education.
Internal Collaboration & Reporting
- Collaboration: Partner with marketing, program design, and operations teams to align sales efforts and ensure smooth program delivery.
- Reporting and Forecasting: Maintain CRM accuracy and prepare regular sales reports and forecasts for leadership.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Education, or a related field.
- Ten years of progressively responsible experience in business development.
A Well-Qualified Candidate Will Also Possess:
- MBA or a Master’s degree in a related field.
- Proven experience in B2B sales or business development,
- Sales experience within the education or professional services sector.
- Demonstrated track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Experience in selling complex, multi-year service contracts is a plus.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- An understanding of the basics of business, management, and leadership principles.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical abilities, with a data-driven approach to problem-solving.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed for client meetings and industry events.
What You Need to Know
Compensation:
- Salary range of $110,000 – $150,000; commensurate to selected hire’s experience.
Location: Please note these roles are available in Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth.
