McDonough School of Business

Washington, DC, USA

Established in 1789 to educate the leaders of a new nation, Georgetown University is today one of the world’s leading academic and research institutions, located at the center of global politics and business in Washington, D.C.

For more than 225 years, the University has offered transformational educational experiences that prepare the next generation of global citizens to lead and make a difference in their companies and communities. Georgetown continues to be a destination of choice for presidents, legislators, CEOs, philanthropists, and entrepreneurs.

Every year, some 1,400 undergraduates, 1,000 MBA students, and thousands of participants in executive education programs choose Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business to sharpen their management acumen and leadership skills. Our programs combine a keen understanding of the political and social realities that shape policy and markets with an educational philosophy grounded in the Catholic Jesuit concept of cura personalis, which translates as ‘care of the whole person.’ The Recruiter Insights report of 2020 listed McDonough as 1st in the world for having graduates who are innovative and creative; 1st in the United States and 4th in the world for providing a diverse pool of candidates; and 5th in the world for graduates who show exceptional entrepreneurial skills and drive.

Since 1994, Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business has worked with dozens of global organizations to create custom education programs. We have educated leaders at a variety of organizations, including global financial institutions, consulting firms, universities, professional organizations, government agencies, and companies in the healthcare, energy, and manufacturing sectors. Our cross-sector expertise provides leaders with the knowledge and skills they need to boost their impact in today’s complex geopolitical environment.

It is a point of pride that more than half of our current clients have contracted for multiple custom programs, some returning for five to as many as 11 years. Their repeat business speaks to our clients’ satisfaction with the results and return on investment of our custom programs.

Our clients value our approach, which is the opposite of “one-size-fits-all”. We collaboratively design and thoughtfully tailor each program to fit our clients goals and needs, creating a research-based curriculum paired with practical learning. Participants deepen their knowledge of advanced theories and practices, apply them in class and to real-world challenges, and achieve tangible results for themselves and their organizations.

Our programs are taught by Georgetown faculty, known worldwide for their excellence in research and teaching. Our professors infuse their courses not only with their academic knowledge but also bring to the classroom the insights and perspectives gleaned from working with top business leaders from around the world.

To ensure our programs are supporting participants in the most effective and engaging way possible, we measure their return on investment. In 2017, The Financial Times ranked Georgetown Custom Executive Programs as #1 in following up after participants returned to the workplace.

Responding to the evolving work environment and using technology to enhance pedagogy, we are committed to delivering our custom programs in a way that achieves our clients’ goals while making the most efficient use of their time. Whether the program is delivered in person, virtually, or in a hybrid mode, on Georgetown’s campus or at the client’s site, each of our programs offers an immersive learning experience. We have delivered dozens of programs in international venues, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, England, Germany, Guinea, Mexico, Peru, Qatar, Bahrain, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates.
