Through taking a comprehensive business approach, our board members equip UNICON’s member schools with the resources and initiatives they need to improve their performance globally. Thanks to their diverse backgrounds and experience in executive education, our board members create a community that is open to collaboration and supports the growth of all members.
Eric Bergemann
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
UNICON Board Chair 2024-2025
Eric serves as a Senior Director of Executive Programs at the MIT Sloan School of Management and is capability development leader in Program & Instructional Design Methodology and Improvement
Shalini Bhatia
Stanford University
UNICON Board Vice-Chair 2024-2025
Shalini Bhatia is Director of Program and Business Development for Stanford Graduate School of Business. She leads the faculty engagement initiative and previously managed the Executive Education Financial Times Ranking process.
Jean Choy
University of Washington
For more than 25 years, Jean has helped public and private organizations grow globally. She currently serves as the Associate Dean of Executive Education and International Initiatives at the University of Washington Foster School of Business, where she’s raised visibility and reputation thanks to her proficiency in English, Japanese, and Korean.
Jon A. Kaupla
University of Wisconsin, Wisconsin School of Business Center for Professional & Executive Development
Jon A. Kaupla is the President and Executive Director of the Wisconsin School of Business Center for Professional & Executive Development at the University of Wisconsin. With over 25 years of leadership experience in human resources and learning and development, Jon has significantly contributed to the growth and transformation of the Center since 2017.
Aisha Azhar
Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS)
Aisha has led pioneering executive education initiatives on board governance, agribusiness management, venture advancement, women entrepreneurship and digital transformation in the financial services. For the past 13 years, she has driven executive education strategy, client relationships, program design, development and execution across multiple mediums.
Aldemir Drummond
Fundação Dom Cabral
Aldemir is a professor of Strategy and Organizations at Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC), where he teaches at both Executive Education and Degree Programs. In his career at FDC, Aldemir has led, designed and delivered programs in Latin America, North America, Europe and Asia, several of them in partnership with local schools.
Katarina Hägg
Stockholm School of Economics
Katarina currently serves as the CEO of SSE Executive Education at the Stockholm School of Economics. Her primary focus is on driving innovation of education and development of responsible leaders in all career stages.
Nicholas Hamilton-Archer
University of Michigan, Stephen M. Ross School of Business
Nicholas Hamilton-Archer serves as the Chief Executive Education Officer for the Stephen M. Ross School of Business. He came to Michigan Ross from Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business, where he was Executive Director of Executive Education.
Dennis Lanham
Santa Clara University
Dennis Lanham serves as Sr. Assistant Dean and Executive Director, Silicon Valley Executive Center, Santa Clara University. He is a seasoned learning and development executive leader with 20+ years of combined experience in university-based executive education, global member services and program management.
Marta Pimentel
Nova School of Business and Economics
Executive Director at Nova SBE Executive Education since 2019. Leads a team of more than 70 people and a business that is consolidating and growing consistently in quality, revenue, and margin. Marta has more than 32 years of professional experience in the education sector, particularly in executive education.
Shaun Royzn
Duke Corporate Education
Shaun has over 17 years of experience in global higher and executive education. Notable career achievements include establishing the GIBS/Harvard Business School partnership program for African executives, which is now in its fifth year of delivery. He also designed the Bloomberg Financial Journalism Program for Africa and the General Electric African Leaders program.

Melanie Weaver Barnett

UNICON Executive Director, Secretary, Treasurer
Before joining UNICON, Melanie Weaver Barnett was chief executive education officer at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. She has served as chair of the board of directors for UNICON and on the boards of the Alumni Association and the Advisory Board for Intercollegiate Athletics.
Terance Wolfe
University of Southern California
As Executive Director at the University of Southern California / Marshall School of Business, Terry manages a portfolio of corporate custom clients, coordinates with other Account Executives, and is responsible for the Marshall School’s Open Enrollment portfolio.

Committees

There are several standing committees that are responsible for driving specific areas of the UNICON membership experience. The committees cover a wide range of areas from Finance to Marketing and Communications. Please click each committee link to learn more.

What We Do:

The Benchmarking Committee commissions periodic surveys of member schools. These surveys include metrics,
trends and strategic insights into the University-based Executive Education Industry that can enable members to
improve the quality of their work in the field of non-degree executive education.

Goals and Objectives:

For the coming year:

• Publish the 2023 UNICON Membership Benchmark Survey
• Create several pulse surveys to track key trends in non degree executive education industry
• Continue collaborative efforts with partners to track trends in corporate learning

Benchmarking Committee Guidelines 7-19-24

What We Do:

The Communications Committee supports the internal and external communications priorities of the Organization, including web-based communications, social media and public relations. The committee also collects data on membership engagement and reports insights and findings to other UNICON Committees and leadership to inform decision-making and planning.

The Conference Committee maintains a pipeline of potential host schools and supports them in the planning and execution of relevant and high-quality conferences.

  • Discuss current issues affecting the industry.
  • Build relationships to expand network and promote collaboration.

What We Do:

The Continuity Committee focuses upon strategies and processes for uninterrupted succession to the Board.

The Continuity Committee oversees the Leadership Academy for aspiring individuals at the director level.

What We Do:

The Finance Committee provides budget oversight and direction and oversees the organization’s financial and accounting practices.

The committee is responsible for developing the financial strategy for UNICON, monitoring financial transactions, various financial reports, and the annual audit. The committee also monitors our investments and makes investment recommendations to the board.

The committee is comprised of the board chair, board vice chair, and the executive director.

What We Do:

We aim at representing the multiple facets and different perspectives of global university-based executive education
through our membership base. As the membership committee, we seek to enrich the existing community with new
active members and advise the UNICON board on membership strategy, cultivate the pipeline of new member
schools and make recommendations regarding new and ongoing membership.

Goals and Objectives:

For the coming year we want to nurture our existing members and keep engagement levels high. We are also looking to strengthen our membership base in Africa.

We will review applications for membership and make recommendations to the board according to our guidelines.

What We Do:

Cutting-edge research is one of UNICON’s cornerstone activities, guided and coordinated by the Research Committee.

UNICON-sponsored research seeks to deepen the understanding of the role and of innovative practices in executive education, while generating practical knowledge for members and other practitioners.

Members benefit from UNICON research, as it can expand their knowledge of the field, while keeping them informed of recent developments.
