You will play a critical role in shaping the learning journeys for executives and professionals from our corporate, government, and university clients, impacting the way they lead and innovate in their organizations.   About the role   Berkeley Executive Education is seeking a Learning Experience Designer with a strong background in corporate learning and development to design curriculum for senior level executives. We are looking for someone with strategic insight into corporate training needs and the ability to design learning experiences that align with business objectives. The Learning Experience Designer will work in close partnership with the Client Solutions team to understand the learning objectives and business context of each client and translate needs into customized learning journeys that meet client’s objectives and deliver measurable impact. Responsibilities Reporting to the Vice President of Product Design and partnering with the Client Solutions team, the responsibilities of the Learning Experience Designer include but are not limited to the following:
  • Client Engagement & Proposal Development: Engage with potential clients to understand their learning objectives, audience, and organizational context. Leverage this information to create compelling proposals, RFPs, and collateral materials, in collaboration with colleagues and faculty members, to secure new business.
  • Program Design & Collaboration: Lead or co-lead the customization of programs to meet client needs, partnering with faculty to ensure all learning assets are designed and produced for diverse delivery methods, including in-person, live online, self-paced online, or blended formats.
  • Curriculum Innovation: Collaborate with Product Design, Marketing, and Delivery teams, along with UC Berkeley faculty, to design or refresh Open Enrollment and Comprehensive Leadership Programs, ensuring they remain cutting-edge and impactful.
  • Learning Experience Design: Design and support faculty in developing end-to-end learning journeys and curricula that are based on best-in-class content and effective pedagogy. Ensure that delivery methods are tailored to the learner audience (e.g., in-person, live online, self-paced online, or blended).
  • Industry & Pedagogical Research: Stay abreast of industry trends to continuously enhance learning experiences. Research, evaluate, and recommend innovative methods for executive development, including technology-based learning, assessment methodologies, and coaching.
  • Program Review & Improvement: Participate in Open Enrollment and Custom program reviews to identify what resonates with the marketplace, contributing to the development of measurable, program-specific improvement plans.
  • Standardization & Inclusive Design: Develop standards, processes, and best practices in learning experience design. Ensure that inclusive design principles are integral to all program development.
  • Faculty Recruitment: Identify and help recruit new faculty who can address pressing and emerging market and client needs.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in designing learning experiences for professionals, including senior-level executive learners
  • Program Design Expertise: Proven track record of designing programs in topics such as leadership, strategy, digital transformation, and other areas relevant to executive learners.
  • Innovative Teaching Methods: Expertise in developing programs using practice-based, innovative teaching methods.
  • Collaboration with Academia: Experience working with academic faculty on curriculum and learning experience design.
  • Multimodal Learning: Proficiency in developing content across multiple learning modalities, including in-person and online formats.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing stakeholder expectations.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Creative Problem-Solving: Detail-oriented with a knack for thinking outside the box to devise creative solutions.
  • Agility & Entrepreneurship: An agile mindset with the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment; experience in a start-up setting is a plus.
  • Consultative Development: Experience working with sales or business development teams on consultative product/program development.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Program Design, Learning Experience Design, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.

To give our employees flexibility, Berkeley Exec Ed is a hybrid work environment.
