About the Role

In embarking on a new era of growth and impact, Melbourne Business School is seeking an outstanding leader to become the Chief Engagement Officer. This role has overarching accountability for the leadership and high impact of the School’s external facing positioning and activity across marketing functions, short course and award program sales and external relations of the School. This will be accompanied by the delivery of excellent services to other internal areas.

The Chief Engagement Officer is integral to degree student and short course participant attraction and enrolment, alumni engagement, advancement and partnerships. It is a role that enables the School to take a holistic and strategic view of its customers, brand and positioning in the market and in relationships with alumni, donors and partners.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, this position will also contribute to the development and execution of the School’s strategy and major decisions that relate to its operations.

Key Attributes for the Role

You will be a senior practitioner with demonstrated strong leadership, depth of experience and contemporary practice in a similar role encompassing marketing and external relations, ideally within a business school/university, for-purpose sector or professional services context. You will have demonstrable experience developing long-term relationships and/or collaborative links between different groups, either nationally or internationally, and leading and influencing networks.

Your excellent verbal, interpersonal and influencing skills, together with a demonstrated ability to collaborate, consult and negotiate within networked, cross-functional teams and with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders will be a key to your success. These will be accompanied by strong evidence of your presence and ability to articulate a compelling story about the School’s purpose and suite of offerings to stakeholders, including senior executives and leaders.

Your qualifications will ideally include an MBA with a tertiary qualification in business, marketing corporate relations or related disciplines.
