This position is located in Ithaca, New York however the successful applicant may perform this role remotely within the United States.

The New York Convenience of employer guidelines require New York State individual tax reporting and withholdings for this position. Additional individual state income tax filings may also be required if working temporarily outside New York State.

Department and Position Summary

As Cornell University’s online learning unit, eCornell delivers online professional certificate courses to individuals and organizations around the world. Courses are personally developed by Cornell faculty with expertise in a wide range of topics, including data analytics, management, marketing, human resources, leadership, and STEM. Students learn in an interactive, small cohort format to gain skills they can immediately apply in their organizations, while earning a professional certificate from Cornell University. eCornell has offered online learning courses and certificate programs for 15 years to over 130,000 students at more than 2,000 companies.

Product solutioning, consulting, and business development support role focused on nurturing and developing corporate partnerships with F1000 companies. This person will assist in identifying and linking client development needs to the external education resources of eCornell/External Education and the academic units within Cornell University. The person will work extensively with the business development team to develop custom solutions to fit specific client needs. The role will team with program managers and coordinators to ensure that the delivery of Cornell programs meets and exceeds the expectations of partner companies. This role will act as an internal Center of Excellence promoting best practices and undertaking additional projects to support the overall development of custom enterprise programs.

What you will do:

  • Collaborate with each territory’s Director, Corporate Programs to develop relationships and business opportunities with Fortune 1000 companies
  • Identify professional development needs and design/propose appropriate solutions
  • Promote and develop custom executive education solutions while partnering with the business development team
  • Liaise with faculty across academic units for the design and delivery of custom executive education programs
  • Work with program coordinators to insure excellent program delivery and partner satisfaction
  • Support customer relationships and program satisfaction to insure long-term partnerships
  • Work with account teams to develop well targeted account strategies and sales plans
  • Deliver on strategy and execute with business development team to grow partnerships
  • Deliver effective presentations to influencers and decision makers
  • Document all business development activities, and solutioning work daily within
  • Work with Corporate Program Directors to provide input for pipeline reports twice monthly that detail pipeline development detail by account
  • Effectively represent External Education in interactions with Cornell faculty and staff
  • Provide superior communication and customer service
  • Collaborate with other departments such as Product Management to develop products and business models that will enhance External Education’s growth
  • Lead or support other projects as defined to develop and promote best practices in executive and professional education.
  • Provide technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or questions with online learning products as needed.
  • Actively engage with learning products created by competitors for benchmarking purposes.
  • Stay apprised of broader developments in the online-learning marketplace — via competitive analysis and student engagement — and leverage this intelligence in product strategies.
  • Effectively represent eCornell in interactions with Cornell faculty and staff.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or related field
  • Five to seven years of experience in consulting, training program design, development, and delivery
  • Five to seven years of program coordination and administration experience
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, manage, implement and monitor projects from conception to completion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people
  • Must be able to work independently while supporting the efforts of an overall team
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Expertise with standard computer software including Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Google Suite
  • Occasional travel required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s or other graduate degree in related fields.
  • Seven or more years of experience in instructional design and delivery
  • Seven or more years of program management experience
  • Background knowledge in related fields, such as Human Resources and Leadership
  • Experience in negotiating and preparing contracts
